PHOTOGRAPHERS MAKING MERRY

Eight photographers turned their talents away from the camera at the weekend to form a working party. They were preparing Purbeck Cottage Studios at Durley, near Bishops Waltham, ready for Making Merry, the Winchester City Council open studios event which begins on Friday 19th November.

The award-winning photographers are presenting a diverse range of photographs including landscapes, seascapes, flowers, nature and abstract work. In addition, hand-made silver jewellery and lampwork glass will be available. The event is an opportunity to talk to the artists and hear about their work, and have a glass of mulled wine or coffee whilst browsing the displays, which are in the studio and adjoining barn.

"We're very excited to be participating for the first time", says Zoe Hemsley who owns Purbeck Cottage Studios with her partner Simon Mann. "The photographers taking part all have distinctive styles of their own and the pictures come in different sizes, both framed and unframed, so they are affordable as Christmas presents."

The event runs from Friday 19th November until Sunday 28th November, and Purbeck Cottage Studios will be open afternoons from 2 to 7 pm on weekdays and all day on weekends. Exact opening times and further information is available on the studio website www.purbeckcottagestudios.co.uk or on www.christmasinwinchester.co.uk.
